To facilitate a new rail link between Helsinki and Turku, five separate railway plans will be prepared and developed further toward the construction stage as individual plans. A dedicated planning consultant is in charge of each railway plan.
The railway planning by the project company is based on previous planning and assessments by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency. The materials can be reviewed on the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s project website.
West Railway comprises the following railway plans:
- Espoo–Lohja (Espoo–Salo direct railway line)
- Lohja–Salo (Espoo–Salo direct railway line)
- Salo–Hajala (Salo–Turku double-track railway line)
- Hajala–Nunna (Salo–Turku double-track railway line)
- Nunna–Kupittaa (Salo–Turku double-track railway line)
